Beauty Tricks You Need to Know

We can always use those little beauty tricks and makeup hacks to make ourselves look more gorgeous. Here are some great tips to use the next time you doll yourself up.

1. Wet your makeup sponge a little bit before using with foundation for a more even looking finish.

2. Clean up edges of your lipstick application or cat eye/eyeliner application with a dab of foundation on a Q-tip. It will remove the stray marks and conceal at the same time.

3. Add some liquid highlighter to your moisturizer for an all-over glow.

4. Use a hair dryer and blow hot air on your eyelash curler for about 15 seconds before curling your lashes. The heat will help keep your lashes curled longer.

5. While traveling, pack any fragile bottles in shoes and put those in the middle of your suitcase to keep them more secure.

6. Add a few eye drops to a tube of dry mascara to help give a smoother application.

7. Always wash your hands before washing your face and use a separate towel to dry your face to avoid acne.

8. Exfoliate lips before applying lipstick with a toothbrush and sugar scrub. Use a different toothbrush than your regular one you use to brush your teeth.

9. If you often get blisters, prevent them by rubbing clear deodorant on your feet and heels to ease friction.

10. Dust a little bit of baby powder on your eyelashes before applying mascara. It will act like a primer and give you extremely thick, lush lashes.

11. When you need your makeup to last all day without touch ups, apply a cream or liquid foundation then use a light powder. The powder absorbs excess oil that could make any makeup slide off your skin.

12. If you want to make your lips appear plumper, apply lipstick then use a color two shades darker and dab it into the center of your top and bottom lips. It is a great trick to make your lips appear fuller.

13. When you buy a new makeup product, write the date you first use it on the product so you know when it is time to buy new.

14. Use concealer as a primer for eye shadow to help stop creasing and keep the shadow on your lids longer.

Make Your Makeup Last Longer

If you have a full-time job and go out at night or are just simply super busy throughout the day and don’t have time to fix your makeup, what do you do? The gorgeous job you did in the morning with your face rarely lasts a few hours, let alone all day. Here are some tips to keeping your makeup fresh and you looking flawless all day long.

1. First of all, choose matte finishes. Your skin will naturally produce oils and get dewy throughout the day, so you’ll want to counteract this with your makeup if you don’t want to look too greasy. Go for matte foundations, eye shadows and lipsticks. Look for products that claim to be “long-lasting” and ask around for which products really work or test a few yourself.

2. Use a primer to increase the longevity of your look. Use a primer for everything, including your face, before your eye shadow and mascara and lips. Use a makeup setting powder after you apply your makeup or a makeup setting spray to keep oils at bay and your look from fading. My current favorite is Urban Decay’s “De Slick” Oil control Makeup Setting Spray. You use it before and after applying makeup to keep oily skin at bay, which is especially important if you might be sweating.

3. Keep a bag with makeup and tools for touch ups throughout the day. You don’t need to re-do your makeup completely to keep it looking fresh all day long. Include powders, oil blotting sheets, lip gloss, mascara and waterproof eyeliner. Try including small or sample sizes so in case you lose them, you won’t be upset. Slip them all in a small bag and toss in your purse so you have it whenever you need a little touch up.
